Loom Weaving Classes : Chicago Area School for Fiber Art Education

Weaving Skills: Dyeing to weave

Instructor: Tammy L. Deck

Yes! This can be your second ever project! Create your own version of this beautiful hand-dyed chenille scarf. During this class you will measure your warp from luxurious rayon chenille, then go on to dye the yarn in your own custom colorway. After the yarn dries, you can go on to weave at your own pace, and the result will be a truly one-of-a-kind creation.

Must have prior 4-shaft weaving experience. If not, consider taking Weaving I now and this class at a later date.

Project materials and loom use are included in our class fee. Already have a portable 4-shaft loom? Bring it to class and we'll credit you $10. Looms available at the studio for purchase as low as $400.

Dates: April 3, 2013 to measure warp
April 10 to dye yarn
**
Meets: Wednesdays, 2pm to 4:30pm (ish)
Fee: $160 (materials included)

Weaving Classes Chicago Area School: Come learn to Weave

You do not need to own a loom to weave....students use design center looms.

This is Sheila setting up a 45" loom for a blanket/throw.  This is only her second time on a loom!!  Learn to weave your own fabrics for fashion and artwear.  Fabrics for Purses, Decorative Pillows, Table toppers, window treatments, tapestries (fiber paintings).....and so much more.

We are very flexible and able to work with your schedule. Westmont is a pleasant, Chicago area suburb a smidge South of I88 and a smidge West of Route 83 (Free no hassle Parking)  Our studio is less than a block away from the Westmont Metra Train Station that services customers between Chicago (Union Station) and Aurora, IL.

Weaving School / Classes Chicago Land Area

We've had a whole lot of interest in our weaving classes this fall...so we've brought in more looms for students to work on. Students start out on rigid heddle or table looms...your choice...but then we love to turn you on to the "big girl" floor looms as fast as we can. They are a whole lot of fun!

This is Dottie threading a 4shaft 36" loom.

This is a hand painted (see the color changes)shadow weave pattern in Rayon Chenille (very cozy!)

This is Chris A with her table runner woven in rep weave.
